BATAM (gokepri.com) – Foreign nationals who apply for a second home visa must complete the requirement to prove ownership of funds worth IDR2 billion equal to USD140.000 or ownership of a luxury property in Indonesia within 90 days of arriving.
If the second home visa applicant cannot show proof of ownership of funds held in a state-owned bank or a certificate of luxury property within 90 days, immigration will impose sanctions such as deportation/return to their home country.
“Within 90 days, the foreign person must come to the immigration office to prove that I have IDR 2 billion in the bank, complete with a bank statement that the money is there, or proof of ownership of a luxury property (one of them is chosen),” said the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), Anggiat Napitupulu, on Monday, December 26, 2022.
If this requirement is met, Anggiat said, immigration will confirm the visa applied for by the applicant. However, if a foreign national who arrives in Indonesia with a second home visa fails to show proof of ownership of funds or a certificate of luxury property, immigration will enforce the requirement.
“If you don’t report within 90 days, we will deport you, we will hunt you down,” said Anggiat at a press conference on the performance of the Kemenkumham Bali Regional Office in 2022.
The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia launched a second home visa service for foreign nationals this year to allow them to stay in Indonesia for 5 or 10 years. This new immigration service is one of the government’s efforts to attract foreign nationals who are considered potential investors or entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
However, holders of second home visas are not required to have a job or be in business in Indonesia when they arrive in Indonesia. “Please enter with a limited stay visa while thinking (about investment opportunities, red.). That’s why we need proof of ownership of such a large sum of money so that if he stays in Indonesia for a long time, he doesn’t run out of money to live,” said the Head of the Kemenkumham Bali Regional Office.
On the same occasion, he reiterated that foreign nationals interested in obtaining a second home visa can apply directly to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia through the molina.imigrasi.go.id website-based application.
Previously, the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Yasonna Laoly, said that the second home visa and residence permit have a one single submission concept, which means that the visa, limited residence permit, and re-entry permit are applied for at once so that when the foreign person enters Indonesian territory, they have received a response from the immigration office. The second home visa and residence permit are issued for 5 or 10 years, depending on the applicant’s request.
“Therefore, from that time on, the second home limited stay permit (Itas) will be issued and sent electronically to the foreign person’s email,” said the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in a written statement.
In relation to this, holders of the second home visa are given special queue facilities when checking immigration documents at international airports or ports in Indonesia, including the Batam Sea Port, Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, and Juanda International Airport in Surabaya.
