BATAM (gokepri) – Sekupang International Ferry Terminal has introduced a new free shuttle bus service to enhance the travel experience for international tourists visiting Batam. In partnership with Trans Batam, the shuttle service will ferry passengers between the terminal and Grand Batam Mall, one of the city’s most popular shopping destinations.

The initiative is aimed at making it easier for tourists to explore Batam and boosting the number of visitors arriving through Sekupang Port. Pipin Kusnadi, Commissioner of Sekupang International Ferry Terminal, highlighted that the port is strategically located and well-equipped to cater to a growing number of travelers. “This new facility will provide greater convenience for our passengers and we expect to see a significant increase in visitor numbers,” he said.

To further incentivize travel to Batam, Batam Fast, a ferry operator serving the Singapore-Batam route, is offering free shuttle bus tickets to passengers purchasing ferry tickets at their Harbourfront terminal in Singapore. Anisa Choirany, Marketing Executive of Batam Fast, expressed optimism about the positive impact of the shuttle service on tourism. “We believe that this initiative will attract more tourists to visit Batam via Sekupang Port,” she said.

The shuttle bus service operates on a daily basis, with pick-ups from Sekupang Port at 8:50 AM and drop-offs at Grand Batam Mall at 3:40 PM. Return trips from the mall to the port depart at 3:40 PM.

Ardiwinata, Head of Batam’s Culture and Tourism Department, highlighted the importance of such amenities in attracting tourists. “Travel should be convenient, enjoyable, and affordable. The shuttle bus service is a step in the right direction,” he stated.

The free shuttle service is a joint effort between the Batam City Government and the Sekupang International Ferry Terminal. It is part of a broader strategy to achieve the city’s target of attracting 2 million international tourists in 2024.
