Batam, gokepri – Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd, a leading glass product manufacturer, is reportedly interested in investing in a glass factory in Pulau Rempang, Batam. The move comes after the Indonesian government recently launched the island as a new economic zone.

Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd officials met with Muhammad Rudi, Head of Batam Indonesia Free Trade Zone Authority (BIFZA) also known as BP Batam, on Sunday April 16, to learn more about the island’s business climate.

The company, which has been in operation since 1988 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2005, produces high-quality glass products such as energy-efficient glass, float glass, and automotive glass, with a market presence in over 150 countries.

Tung Chiang Sai, CEO of Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd, stated that the company is paying close attention to the ongoing infrastructure development in Batam and expressed optimism about the island’s potential as an investment destination. According to him, “Batam is very advanced and developed in Indonesia, and many Chinese companies are interested in it. I am currently studying the investment climate in Batam, and it is very attractive and promising for the investment world.”

Muhammad Rudi, the Head of BP Batam, welcomed Xinyi Glass Holdings’ interest in investing in Pulau Rempang, Batam, saying that it would provide a fresh impetus to the island’s economic growth. He also mentioned the acceleration of development and the central government’s commitment to Pulau Rempang as the new engine of Indonesian’s economic growth, which is a green and sustainable city concept, as an attractive opportunity for investors to explore investment opportunities.

Rudi hopes that the acceleration of development in Rempang will have a positive impact on Batam’s economic growth and job creation, and his agency will support foreign investment efforts, primarily from a regulatory and licensing perspective. The Head of Investment Agency is also hopeful that this investment will create employment opportunities for the local population residing on Pulau Rempang.

Overall, Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd’s interest in investing in Batam shows the island’s potential for foreign investors, primarily from China, due to its development and growth in infrastructure and economic policies.
